In South Australia, extreme weather such as cold, lightning, extreme heat and catastrophic fire danger is a risk for every sport and active recreation organisation and its members.
The Office for Recreation, Sport and racing encourages all organisations to implement a hot / extreme weather policy that:
- reflects the information and advice provided by the South Australian Sports Medicine Association. (external site)
- is applied at all levels of the activity, including at club level.
- applies to all events, matches and to training.
Clubs and associations that are affiliated with state and/or national sporting organisations are encouraged to adopt those policies rather than developing their own. This provides for consistency and efficiency across each sport and active recreation sector.
