Now in its third year, the awards recognise leaders, clubs, associations and organisations that are helping to create more inclusive environments, strengthen participation opportunities and advance gender equality.

The State Government remains committed to empowering women and girls through initiatives that break down barriers, create leadership opportunities and support participation at all levels.

The awards highlight those making a lasting impact through programs, partnerships and initiatives that benefit women and girls both on and off the field.

Nominations are open in the following categories:

  • The Power of Her – Emerging Leader

The Power of Her movement was launched in 2023 with the Women in Leadership Symposium, which brought together more than 1,000 participants to champion gender equality in sport and help create opportunities for future generations.

Building on the momentum of the FIFA Women's World Cup and its legacy, the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing continues to advance gender equality through The Power of Her Recognition Awards, Infrastructure and Participation Funding Program, plus other targeted programs and investments.

Nominations are now open and will close on 29 November 2026, with award winners announced in March 2027.

Quotes attributable to Hayley Hosking, 2026 Emerging Leader Award Winner

Our sporting clubs are much more than sport. They’re about community and connection.

If we don’t have young women coming up through the ranks, then these clubs aren’t going to look like what our everyday lives look like.

We need to make sure that we’re uplifting people to follow in our footsteps and inspiring them to do their best, achieve what they can, and be emerging leaders.
