In another major win for grassroots sport, the State Government is investing more than $5.7 million in sport and recreation infrastructure across South Australia.

Through the latest round of the Community Recreation and Sport Facilities Program (CRSFP), 31 applicants have been successful in acquiring funding to support the upgrade and development of sporting clubs and active recreation facilities.

This investment contributes to more than $19 million that has already been allocated to clubs, organisations and projects through the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing grant programs this year.

Successful applicants have collectively committed more than $11.3 million in co-funding, delivering a total project value of more than $17.1 million, which will support 70 full-time jobs during the construction phase.

Organisations and projects funded include:

  • City of Port Adelaide Enfield – receiving $750,000 to redevelop the skatepark, install lighting and construct a multi-sports half court at Semaphore Foreshore.
  • Henley & Grange Baseball Club – receiving $155,100 to construct an indoor baseball/softball training facility at West Lakes Shore Oval.
  • Mount Compass Community Tennis Club – receiving $132,600 to resurface four tennis courts with two lined for netball and replace fencing at Mount Compass Tennis Club.
  • Snowtown Community Management Committee – receiving $60,000 to construct a 3 km walking/cycling trail with wayfinding signage on the Grain Rail Trail Loop.

The benefits of the program will be felt across the state, with $3.2 million allocated to 10 metropolitan projects, $2 million to 16 regional projects, and $414,000 directed towards initiatives in the greater metropolitan area.
