South Australian sport and active recreation clubs can now apply for a share in $5.9 million of funding to help develop, upgrade and renew their infrastructure.

Through the Community Recreation and Sport Facilities Program (CRSFP), organisations can apply for grants from $5,000 to $750,000 to help bring projects to life.

Eligible projects include upgrades to playing surfaces, sports lighting, changerooms and clubrooms, as well as the development of multi-use sport and recreation facilities.

By investing in quality, fit-for-purpose infrastructure, the program aims to increase opportunities for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to participate in sport and active recreation, while creating welcoming spaces that strengthen community connection and belonging.

This year, the program introduces a new two-stage application process. Applicants will first submit a Registration of Interest (ROI), with shortlisted projects invited to progress to a full application. The new approach is designed to reduce the administrative burden on applicants while ensuring detailed assessment effort is focused on the most competitive projects.

In a previous funding round, Christies Beach Sports and Social Club received $222,000 to install four LED light towers at Bice Oval. The project transformed the club's ability to deliver training and competition opportunities, including hosting night matches for the first time, while increasing community access to the facility.

By extending the use of the oval and improving energy efficiency, the upgrade has strengthened the club's long-term sustainability and created opportunities to attract new players, volunteers and supporters.

The CRSFP aligns with the ORSR 2025–2030 Strategic Plan, which sets the direction for a thriving sport and active recreation sector. Through the activation of places and spaces, the program helps ensure South Australians have access to inclusive, accessible and sustainable facilities that encourage participation at all levels.
